Not recommended. My husband and I have tried calling and emailing over 10 times for help with our taxes after they were submitted (we ended up owing waayyyy more than he calculated) and will not answer emails or phone calls.

This place unfortunately has gone downhill from when Cliff was around (rest his soul) - he basically kept this place up and running. I had a situation where for my tax filings they were done incorrectly and we had to face huge penalties. The worst part about how things are being currently run is that they just never get back to you. The staff are lovely, but the owner is incompetent

DO NOT USE THIS FIRM FOR ACCOUNTING When you hire a professional, you expect good communication, timely follow-up and guidance for financial matters. You get none of this with the firm. Goodluck trying to get your taxes in on time with them.

I have never written a negative review in my life. But I have to say this guy totally screwed up my 2021fed and state returns so bad. Filed a return different than what he gave us. Had to pay $$$$$ with penalties. Beware. Something wrong with him.

This firm has gone down hill as stated before. Ken cost me $14k plus interest for filing my 2021 taxes. A stupid mistake. Did not file as developed. I will not be back. And I will let people know how inept Ken is. No CPA could screw up like him. Is he mentally ill or on drugs? Just wanted to share how unhappy we are.

I’d used Grover and Canfied for a number of years to handle my tax filings for myself and my business - everything was great. When Cliff retired (and sadly passed) there was a rough transition period which I thought would be temporary - but now, the firm is a shadow of the service we received in the past and I could not recommend them in good faith. Multiple errors on issuing payroll (issued to past employees that we still have not been able to get corrected, payroll delays, etc) and a lack of communication or followup and communication. It’s a shame since the firm that was built on the hard work and good communication is completely missing - whether a result of incompetence or being over their capacity is unclear. Still no resolution 8 months later.

Had taxes done they were done incorrectly. Then horrible customer service to get it fixed.

This was the worst experience I've ever had with a tax accountant. After mine retired (Grover) in Feb. 2022, Canfield did my taxes. I couldn't get him to respond to my phone messages or emails. The very late filing of my taxes cost me penalties not only for 2021 but for next year as well since I also missed the first deadline for my quarterly payments. I had no idea what I owed not only for 2021 but the estimated taxes for 2022. The first doc said I owed $450 for his work, which is $200 more than I paid his former partner. My taxes this year were much easier because I no longer own a rental house. Then I got the actual bill in July, the amount I would have expected. Because I ordered an online check for the first statement, I overpaid by $200. He will not respond to messages. He owes me money. My bank says he cashed the original check. My financial advisor told me to deduct the penalties I incurred from the IRS for the time it took him to complete the forms & file them. I couldn't deduct the penalty for the missed April 15th quarterly payment because I do not know what it is.

I am sad to say that I would not recommend Grover and Canfield to anyone. Their communication as well as customer service skills are the worst that Ive experienced from any professional company. Throughout the entire process, I was not communicated to about simple things and am now having to pay fees and penalties that could have been avoided. When I talked to them about this issue, they simply said, This one is on you and would not help or sympathize in any way. I believe that a company who specializes in what they do should know how to communicate with their customers and make sure all parties are in agreement with what is happening. Ive never felt so degraded, belittled and frustrated than I did after my interaction with them. I do hope other people dont have the same experience but if youre reading this and deciding on whether to do business with them, Id look elsewhere.
