Very disappointed with west&west. I was referred by a friend 4 years ago. The first year they did a good job, however the last few years (last year being an acception due to scheduling an in person consult) have been very disappointing. This year (2024) I turning in my taxes at end if February, hoping to they would get done on time. I repeatedly called asking about getting them filed in time. A week before they were due, I got told it wasn’t going to be filed on time, but it was okay since an extension was filed. I did not want an extension, and my taxes are pretty basic. Here we are, 3 months later, still calling every other week and have not heard when the taxes will get done and not getting phone calls returned by accountant. Really mad and disappointed in this company.

Quick edit: add LYING to the growing list of complaints. West Accounting just responded that I asked them to do something illegal??? Let’s see… 1. Do my taxes in a timely manner and communicate with me. 2. Help me set up an LLC. 3. Give me my tax documents back after holding onto them for three months. If any of those things are illegal, I will turn myself in! West & West accounting, please stop digging your hole deeper! Notice the trend here: very poor reviews with West Accounting responding how it isn’t their fault. Bottom line is, they are absolutely terrible, unorganized, mismanaged, and apparently overrun by too much on their plate—basically all the characteristics you look to avoid in selecting an accountant. Went in the middle of February for my appointment. I was new in town and asked a friend who he used for accounting (he has since fired West Accounting and profusely apologized to me for sending me there). My appointment was to set up a new LLC and get advice on starting a new business. During the appointment, Reed West asked if I wanted them to also do my taxes as I said that would be fine. A month passes. No word. I call and they say it will be a couple more days. Another two weeks pass. No word. I’m emailing, I’m calling, nothing. Finally an email from Reed: we are too busy with tax season to deal with the LLC, will get that after tax season ends. In the meantime, I FINALLY get my taxes back the night before the deadline—basically no time to review anything. It took two months to do my taxes, all the while I’m stressing because they suck at communicating. Jump ahead a month and I go into the office to pick up my source documents to take them to another accountant to redo my taxes and finally get my LLC set up (he did it in 10 minutes while I was sitting there), and West Accounting couldn’t find my source docs because they are so frickin unorganized. I had to come back three days later to give them time to look for them. Hey, it’s your choice. Go here if you want, but please read the reviews and think long and hard about it. There are wayyyyyy better options!!! And since I’m still sitting in their parking lot writing this review, if any of you do feel so inclined to still walk and trust your finances to these clowns, tell them to hire a landscaper. Their exterior is an exact replica of the mess you can expect to find on the inside as well. Good luck.

Do not use this firm!! We used this firm in 2023 to file our 2022 personal taxes, I made an appointment and paid a deposit and they did our taxes over the phone with us. We emailed them all of the documents they asked us to. AND WE WAITED. I realized in May of 2023 that I hadn’t heard back, so I called and the receptionist said that they hadn’t filed our taxes yet because they were behind on filing taxes for businesses, but that they had filed an extension and not to worry. I called again a few months later with no answer. Our taxes were never filed for 2022. We filed our 2022 taxes in 2023 and were charged over $4000 in penalties and interest, I called West & West, as they had told me they had filed an extension. They didn’t. They said they would try to get some of the penalties removed for us, they didn’t and we never heard back, after several messages. It’s unfortunate for us that their “oversight” cost us $4,000. Update: I love how the response tries to pin this on us, we couldn’t pay because our taxes had not been filed! We were informed that an extension was filed for our FILING, not payment. How do we pay our taxes if they have not even been filed? We called about signatures and no one responded, this was entirely West &West’s mistake!

Absolutely horrendous service! Should be turned into the BBB. If you are a new client don’t even think about it. There is no follow up, no follow through. Reed prepared our documents incorrectly. We got a letter in January from the IRS that a form was left out. Reed has had minimal contact with us when questioning the status of resolution. He used the excuse he was waiting on the IRS. When I FINALLY got ahold of someone at the front desk they were informed that he was waiting on which form was needed though the letter clearly stated exactly what was needed. He said we needed to submit the 1095-X form which only we had access to…interesting since he supposedly didn’t know which form. Yet again, WRONG! That was not the form that was requested on the letter. Finally after realizing this company doesn’t give AF about us paying the IRS or any other repercussions from his action or rather inactions. I decided to take care of this myself. I went through the form needed and combed the internet carefully to figure it all out. Come to find out even his calculations for that credit were wrong. Save your self from anger, stress and heartache. Go somewhere else. This is hands down the worst company I have even dealt with across ALL industries. I have never seen such unprofessionalism, carelessness, laziness and poor customer service in my whole life. The 16 year olds at McDonalds are doing better than these guys!

West and West has been preparing my tax returns for over 30 years. I have referred them to my parents an siblings. My parents and one of my siblings each owned a business and after Dale West started preparing their tax returns and following his suggestions they were able to save much more in taxes paid due to Dale West's superior knowledge of Federal and State Tax Laws. Dale's idea of an enjoyable read is studying Tax Codes. No one is better. He is straight up honest, no gray areas in his suggested deductions, credits and tax saving advice.. I have always been treated by the West and West Tax Preparers and the Office Staff with superior professional courtesy.
