Started using Charles (Chuck) Jones in 2021; he was not sociable nor hospitable, but he seemed thorough. Using Chuck Jones for the 2021 and 2022 tax years was adequate, but then comes 2023. Filed 2023 taxes with Chuck in March 2024, then heard nothing from Chuck nor his office for several months, except that he filed for an extension through October 15, 2024 and that he estimated no taxes would be owed. From May 2024 to September 2024, I emailed him approximately three times inquiring about the status of 2023 returns; the only response I received to all my of emails was a rude "Refer to this FAQ document" which then stated something to the effect of "I work on taxes in the order received, you'll get them when you get them". Then Sunday, September 29, 2024 comes along where Chuck sent an email informing me he had to immediately cease his (unknown completion status) work on my 2023 taxes due to a medical emergency which occurred months ago... 17 DAYS BEFORE OCTOBER 15th. Had Chuck Jones communicated his medical hardship's affect on his ability to work any one of the times I had emailed him would have been no problem; but he negligently did not communicate with me and has left me scrambling to find a new tax person with less than 20 days before the big due date. Like another reviewer, I found him through Ramsey Trusted Pros; I have filed a complaint with them as well. They would do well to take these complaints seriously, lest their reputation falls.

I would give 0 stars if allowed - Chuck Jones did our taxes in 2020, and now, 3 years later, we discovered that according to the IRS our taxes were not filed because they were submitted twice, one requesting the refund be applied to the next year and (per our request) another one filed because we wanted our refund immediately. We never got the refund because the IRS will not file two returns, both with Chuck Jones name as our tax preparer and his signature. When we discovered our taxes were not applied in 2020 we immediately called Chuck Jones (who NEVER answers his phone) and asked him to fix the mistake. He was very rude to us and claimed there was “no way” he could have made a mistake. He wanted us to pay him (AGAIN! As we paid him already to do the taxes right) and would not return our calls or give us the required paperwork (“they are in storage”). After several stressful calls to the IRS and trying to get it done correctly we fixed the problem, WITHOUT his help. We even showed up at his office to pick up paperwork that we had requested, and his assistant was directed to tell us we had to pay a retainer to get our paperwork. Really, really incompetent guy who is rude and would not own up to or help us correct his mistake! Don’t make the mistake we made and hire him. He is a Ramsey Trusted preparer and we have also filed a complaint with Ramsey Solutions to get his name removed.

I've had Charles Jones as my Tax preparer for the last 5 years. He does an amazingly thorough job, and is kind, intelligent, and friendly. I've been very pleased with Chuck, and I have complete confidence in him. I wod highly reco.mend him to anyone!
