Like previous reviews, Midwest Financial took several months to do our taxes. Even though we got all our documents in on time, they still ended up needing to file two extensions at additional expense to us. Twice, when we emailed for status updates, we got an automated email back saying that the CPA team was on a "volleyball retreat." This was in early April, during tax season, presumably the busiest time for CPAs. After filing a 6+ month extension, they still made a mistake in our filing details that they refused to fix without redoing our whole tax return and double charging us. We were a client for several years before this company went through two mergers / acquisitions (when they were still Apel Associates). It's clear that there's a type of customer they're trying to push out in favor of more lucrative financial planning. If you're a professional looking for accounting services, forget about it. They'll over charge you, not prioritize you, and still file your taxes late at YOUR expense. Go somewhere else.

Terrible experience with this firm. Tax preparation took 3 months longer than originally quoted and whenever I’d request a status update all i would receive is an automated email. I ended up filing my taxes myself because of their lack of communication and they still issue me a $355 bill for the work they’d done up to that point. Beware!
