I went to Ranta CPA + Associates recently to have my taxes prepared after my tax situation changed and was over my head. My CPA Ted was comforting and reassuring that I had no issues, and quickly moved to get through 3 years of taxes and 1 inherited tax issue. I left the office on a Friday and had no worries for the weekend. I received my tax refund, and paid a little for past delinquencies. My overall experience was great. I recommended Ranta to my neighbor who has a business. Free parking in the parking lot is nice perk next to the Seattle Center.

I have been a happy client for many years and have referred numerous friends, family members and business partners over a long period of time. Ranta + Associates handles a wide range of tax returns and challenges, and does so timely with excellent responsiveness. I appreciate and value a tax professional relationship where I can get quick feedback to tax questions as they arise.

Ranta and Associates handled my personal and business taxes for 3 years. My initial meeting with Tiffanie went well. However, as soon as there was actual accounting work to be done, I found Tiffanie's communication by both phone and email to be poor; I found her to be an unclear and incomplete communicator whether that be verbally or in writing. For instance, very early on she advised me to change my recently established business to an LLC in order to file as an S-corp (this involved time and expense of changing my already established business license and accounts), which was a huge waste because she instructed me to do this BEFORE actually having a dedicated consideration/discussion with me of how much would be realistic to declare as personal income; when she finally got around to having this discussion with me, the S-corp structure didn't give me tax savings that would outweigh the expense of compensating her to handle payroll. I then had to switch all my accounts back. This should have been a red flag but I stuck with her because I was new to business, I thought one mistake is human and I anticipated things would solidify and simplify as we worked together more. As I became better versed in my business and investments over the next 2 years, it became more apparent to me that Tiffanie was NOT up to par and I elected to change accountants. It has made a world of difference. My new accountants quickly understand what I am asking, answer the questions clearly and provide clear guidance on how I should best proceed. I immensely regret my failure to listen to my gut and leave Ranta and Associates earlier. Since leaving, I have discovered that Tiffanie failed to initiate filing of a 5500 form for my solo 401k (retirement account information was provided yearly to her office, and Tiffanie was actively involved in helping me calculate what I was permitted to contribute to this account yearly....Tiffanie failed to consider 5500 filing once the account threshold for this requirement was reached, even though the account summary was sent to her as part of my tax filings). Thus far, working with Tiffanie Ranta has resulted in $1500 worth of IRS tax penalties/fees and fees to my new accountants to make the necessary corrections. I am still waiting to hear from the IRS regarding my forgiveness for the late 5500.....so it is possible I will pay even more IRS penalties for making the mistake of working with Ranta and Associates. These are the most basic of business tax requirements. I do not take it lightly to post this publicly. I feel an obligation to other business owners to provide what is an honest reflection of my very troubling experience.

I felt after 20+ years of excellent service it was time to write a review. Tiffanie ALWAYS makes herself available even when my needs fall on typical busy times for CPA professionals. I couldn't manage my investment property portfolio with Tiffanie, Victor and Assoc.
