My accountant of 10 years (one person shop) decided to become apart of Hunt Jackson a few years back. I went from working with someone who I really respected, and felt valued my business to a company who did not. During the initial transition I was told that things would look relatively the same...I could keep the same recording systems, prices would be roughly the same, and of course level of service. As a small business owner of 20 years, these things felt important to me. What unfolded over the last few years was prices that TRIPLED, less and of poorer quality service, and hidden fees (they charge you $240 annually to send a reminder letter to pay your estimated taxes). When I brought this stuff up, I was met with a lack of understanding to my issues and a take-it-or-leave-it approach. Which is fine, except none of this was communicated during the transition, and the things they communicated would occur during the transition (affordable pricing, personal attention) did not. Overall a very unfortunate experience and one I would not recommend.

Our small business has been working with Hunt Jackson for many years. I am extremely satisfied working with Ben Moor. Ben is always there when I have questions- I receive emails even after hours and weekends. I highly recommend Hunt Jackson.

Unfortunately, I wish I could recommend Hunt Jackson. They decided to cancel our contract as they dont have enough staffing to even keep their existing clients. We now have to spend thousands of dollars onboarding to a different accounting firm. If you are looking for a long term accounting partner, know that Hunt Jackson may cancel your contract any time.

Having had a previous CPA where we struggled to get clear answers and understand our options, the experience with Hunt Jackson has been the exact opposite. I’ve done my taxes here for the past 4 years and have saved literally hundreds of thousands in taxes/over a million dollars in taxable income write offs through tax strategies such as cost segregation and bonus depreciation on commercial real estate. Mark Canton has filed all of my returns and spearheaded all of this work. My returns are hundreds of pages long and involve 8 entities. Mark and his team were able to file my taxes EARLY this year so long as I actually got them everything they needed on time. I noticed another review here trashing Mark and I can almost guarantee that you that person is the one failed to get documents over in time. Anyone in the services industry knows there is always 1 out of 50 or 100 customers who cannot take accountability for their own misses and angrily shift blame to anyone else but themselves. I’ve personally referred at least 10 people to work with mark over the years and not a single one has had similar complaints. My only complaint about hunt Jackson is that a regular tax filing is getting pretty expensive and may not be worth it unless you have more nuanced or complicated returns where they can actually save you enough money to cover the additional cost of filing compared to a less advanced CPA.

Worst service, fails to complete tax returns, but doesn't tell you until after the tax deadline. Prior to the deadline assured us taxes were near complete, but going on extension and would be done early May. Mark Canton knew we were looking for an investment property and needed the returns completed asap. Checked in mid-May requesting a status update after hearing nothing in early May as promised. Then Mark Canton, CPA, became infuriated that we asked for an update and now refuses to file any of our taxes, including the out of state taxes that they screwed up on and didn't file for 2 (now 3) years straight, despite numerous requests - for years - to do so. When we did have a Federal return filed by them last year it took weeks of follow-up to finally get it filed. We signed and returned the form to file right after receiving it, then they just sat on it and didn't file for weeks. If we hadn't followed up it never would have been filed on their end. Just pure laziness on Mark Canton's part. Definitely taught us we needed to constantly stay on top of him to get anything done. Mark Canton and the Hunt Jackson CPA Firm is unbelievable. Mark Canton, CPA, Never kept his self imposed deadlines. He provided absolutely false tax information and advice by claiming out of state taxes did not need to be filed, when they did. Then he made excuses as to why they didn't file them, none of which made sense or correlated to actual state tax laws. Charged for consultations and offered "professional tax advice" (much of the time we paid for was to actually listen to Mark's own personal issues), then we based decisions on the professional advice we were given by him. Months later this same CPA, Mark Canton, claims to have no recollection of advice given, despite charging for the consulting time. This place is a joke, apparently from the top down given Scott Hunt is aware of these issues, and does nothing to resolve them or to take accountability for their failures to file and wrong advice. Mark Canton is the CPA to stay away from for sure, but overall the entire firm is a No Go. Do not trust them for anything. Not for taxes as they just placed us on extension then didn't file, plus left us hanging, based on their bad advice for 3 years of out-of-state filings which we now need to hire another company to resolve. Not for professional tax advice either, because they provided inaccurate information then claimed to not recall any of it. It's unfortunate they are in business and taking advantage of people like this. Be warned. Terrible place to do business!

If you are in a room with me and I hear you mention needing a CPA I will drop what Im doing and coming running over to tell you all about Hunt Jackson and my experience with them. I describe them as Tax Wizards although Ive been told that that is not their actual title. I am self employed and David has helped me tremendously throughout the years, knowing how to restructure my withholdings as my business grows. When I stare at him with dead eyes he knows to speak in laymens terms, as I am not well-versed in the Tax Wizards vernacular. Do yourself the favor and invest in the quality local business.
