In 2022, I contacted Tina to handle my business taxes for the first year of my new venture. Three months into running the business, I started using QuickBooks. I made sure to explain to Tina that my major startup expenses, totaling $10,000, were not recorded in QuickBooks. I provided her with digital copies of all the receipts along with the QuickBooks report. Tina assured me that this was sufficient and proceeded with my taxes without any questions or concerns. During our final meeting, the amount we owed seemed incredibly high. My business partner and I had barely made any profit after expenses, yet we were each charged $1,200 in taxes. When I asked Tina if she had included the startup expenses I provided, she confidently said that she had. I left her office in shock, questioning how I could ever make my business profitable if this was the reality of taxes. It was an incredibly distressing experience. The next year, we made a larger profit and surprisingly owed nothing in taxes, which led me to believe that Tina had not included the initial three months of startup expenses in the previous year’s filing. This realization was frustrating, as we had been accruing interest on the $2,400 we owed due to this mistake. I scheduled another meeting with Tina, bringing printed copies of all the receipts and a detailed Excel spreadsheet. When I asked her to show me where she had entered these expenses, she pulled up a photocopy of her handwriting showing the number $9,800 on a piece of paper. I was stunned. This was not how expenses should be documented in a professional tax system. When I calmly explained the issue, she finally understood that she had not properly accounted for the expenses. She then asked me to go back, add the expenses into QuickBooks, and produce a new report. I was baffled—why hadn’t she advised me to do this before filing the taxes in the first place? I have since found a new tax professional who takes a thorough approach, asking for all receipts and ensuring they are properly entered into her system. When I inquired if Tina would charge me to correct the error she made, I was shocked to find out that she intended to charge $150 per tax redo—totaling $450 for both business and personal returns. This entire experience has been incredibly stressful, time-consuming, and costly. I feel that Tina's handling of my business taxes was careless and unprofessional. I would not recommend her services to other business owners, especially those new to the process and seeking guidance.

I would give a zero if I could. She said we owed so much in taxes and couldn’t lease our vehicles to the company which you can by the way. She put in the wrong mileage very rude. Made us file an extension bc she did our taxes the night before and wrong a terrible job at that after getting a second opinion on our bookkeeping and taxes we owe significantly less. Stay away

Unacceptable. If I could give a lower rating, I would. The complete disrespect is absolutely unacceptable. I made an appointment for 10 am. They called and confirmed my appointment the day before. I show up at 10 am. This old boy wanders in at almost 10:45 and then takes someone into his office. The receptionist goes to chat with him for a second, comes back and says "oh, he thought your appointment was at eleven." It was almost noon before I gave up and left. I had other things to do. That's why I made the appointment for 10 am. I called back Monday to try to make another "appointment" and was told it would be weeks before I could get back in there. Well, that'll be the last time I call you then. I DID what I was supposed to do, I showed up at the appointed time, and got a slap in the face.

I contacted Sue Johnson Business Services to assist with filing taxes, the first year since the formation of my new LLC. I always choose to utilize small business whenever I can, and in this case it was definitely the right choice. From the beginning of the first call, SJBS was very informative and helpful. They made sure to schedule an appointment when it was most convenient for me and even offered to travel to the office closer to my residence. Rob Sanders was a consummate professional. He took time to answer my myriad of questions, and walked me through all the tax laws that applied to my LLC. He explained the deductions my LLC could take advantage of in the filing. He made sure I understood every step of the way as we progressed. I give SJBS 5 stars because they truly made me feel that they were focused on their customers and the accuracy of their work.
