Strongly recommended! We have been using the services for the past several years, to file our taxes. The staff is very responsive, answering all our questions clearly, and having all the documents ready on time. What was extremely impressive is that there was a dispute with the amount we owed to PA a year ago; Beth, Ariel and Barry exchanged several mails and phonecalls, and eventually resolved the issue, pinpointing the mistake that the PA-tax-authority had done. We offered to cover some of the expenses and time to resolve the issue, but they declined, arguing that it was part of their service. And thus, we are their clients for life!

Goldstein Tax Prep was originally started by the beloved Bob Goldstein, CPA, who had an encyclopedic knowledge of taxes and tax law. A phenomenal tax accountant! His daughter, Beth, and Barry Kaufman, CPA and staff have continued the tradition. Goldstein Tax Prep is an excellent accounting firm. They are very knowledgeable about all tax issues. Their service is friendly and helpful. They follow through on what they promise. They have up-to-date technology. I have been so impressed with how efficient they are. I have sat with Mr. Kaufman and his calm and knowledgeable demeanor instantly put me at ease. He and his staff take the anxiety out of tax filing. They really care about their clientele. I highly recommend Goldstein Tax Prep. Thank you for your great service. DrBob

Poor communication. Did not file forms on time. Neglected to communicate important deadlines. Lack of concern, and assistance resulted in significant difficulties for me.

I caution against using Goldstein Tax Preps services. They have a policy that if they filed taxes for you last year, they will file an extension on your behalf without your consent. They justify it by saying they intend to help clients avoid late filing penalties, but that is not their decision to make. I wanted to resume e-filing my own taxes, and when I e-filed my own extension on time, the IRS rejected it, saying that someone else had already filed a return using my SSN. In addition to the stress of believing I may have been the victim of identity theft because Goldstein Tax Prep never even told me when they filed an extension using my SSN, this forced me to file my own paper return, which is very inconvenient. When I emailed my concern to the office, Barry doubled down on the policy and suggested I pay them to file my paper return. It appears they are interested in cornering people into continuing to pay them. Whatever the intent, there is no justification for filing tax documents without the taxpayers consent. Edited to add: The owner account has come on trying to publicly disclose my private information about my business with them in 2022, and condescended to me that it was great to hear I took initiative and tried filing [my] own extension. I didnt try filing my own extension - I filed it. IRS rejected it because Goldstein Tax Prep filed it first without my consent and without even informing me they did it. They have since revised their response to my review after I challenged their poor practices in the first response. If they had just waited for a few days, I was considering coming back to them after the weekend and letting them resolve their issue with me, but the tripling down is not just a red flag, its confirmation. I also think leaving my review up is important for informing future readers about their office procedure of filing extensions without taxpayer consent. The following tax year, Barry thought it appropriate to again email me directly to seek my business instead of either leaving me alone completely or at least leaving contact with me to the purview of other representatives who had not directly condescended to me and attempted to publicly undermine my account of my experience.

I have been going to the Goldstein Tax Prep company for 20 years now. I have a consulting business as well as my primary job, my wife recently retired and we are navigating all of that when we file. I also have sought out consulting for other business ventures. What I appreciate is the efficiency, detail orientation, personal service and rapid turnaround. Frankly, I would not go anywhere else. I started working with the company when the late Robert (Bob) Goldstein was running the business. His most capable daughter Beth Goldstein (owner) is now at the helm and Barry Kaufman CPA is leading the accounting team. I greatly miss Bob but am very grateful that the company has continued to thrive and that the service is as good as ever. I have only the highest regard for their work and have recommended them to my friends and family.

It was a very bad experience working with Goldstein Tax last year. My tax was complicated due to my company going public and all the stock proceeds from incentive stock options need to have their tax basis corrected. Sean made multiple mistakes and ended up miscalculating my tax liability by over two hundred thousand dollars. When I questioned him, he corrected his mistakes for like two times but still wasn’t able to get it right. I guess he eventually felt offended(?) and told me to “find someone else” when the tax deadline is a few days later. I ended up doing it myself. Yes, it was tedious to get right due to the manual adjustments needed, but no, it’s not ok to gloss those over to save time or whatever. You can bill me more but you can’t just give me wrong returns and tell me to go elsewhere. All my questions were very specific and can be easily answered but it seems that client asking questions is not welcomed. Not at all what I was promised when the office convinced me to work with them back in 2020 where I thoroughly explained my situation and what I expected from the service. The service wasn’t cheaper than what my friends used in California either. They charged me $1100 for the tax that was never filed. I would not recommend Goldstein if your tax situation has any complication. Edit: I spoke with Barry over the phone after posting my initial review, and we discussed what happened and how things could be improved in the future. Implementing better quality assurance throughout the process, establishing a more accessible feedback channel, and ensuring better qualification of associates before client transfers were some of the key points addressed. Additionally, they fully refunded the fees. Although I would have much preferred that none of these issues had occurred, or that intervention had come much earlier, such as during the tax return process or at least before I posted my review, it's better late than never. Therefore, I am raising my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. I wish Barry and his team success moving forward.

Peace of mind is the most important thing besides getting a most courteous service is what I always get from Goldstein Tax Prep.
