Red Tree C.P.A. should be under investigation at this point. When I took my taxes in to be filed, they didnt do them in a timely matter, claimed they were ready and then didnt send them off. Demanding payment up front. By this point they had claimed being backed up, filed extensions and had a colleague die(I do offer condolences on that) and had many other reasons why it took so long. When I attempted to make arrangements they would do very little to work with me. When I asked for advice I got none. Just pay us and pay your taxes. Furthermore, after being forced to take my taxes somewhere else, they took money that I had already put down in advance claiming they were owed that. As of writing this review I have been told that I am not recieving the Montana rebate due to "late filing". When I went into get assistance the receptionist lied to my face about when they had them prepared and omitted anything in regards to their filing extensions and all the other things we had discussed over the phone. It really has cost me more than is fair or right. To whoever reads this, I sincerely hope that you do not depend on Red Tree CPA in any way.

I use Nicholas at Red Tree CPAs for Payroll, Personal, and Buisiness taxes. Since my buisness opened in 2017 and I moved all personal accounting to them. They're prompt, professional, courteous, and I've never had an issue.

Didn't file my taxes right and was getting charged over $7,000 worth of penalties. They gave me a bill for $12,000 and called it for services rendered and couldn’t tell me what it was for. I told them I'm not paying that without proof of work. They called me up and asked me how much I owed them since they have no record of what work was done. I said nothing I'm paid in full. They sent me to collections and I disputed it. There are so many great accountants in Billings Montana I suggest not picking this one.

We used RED TREE CPAS for the first time (since we moved back home here) to the Billings area and did not get a good 2022 tax preparation..they charged Us $500.00 and were very very impersonal. Didn’t review anything about the paperwork with Us and sent us out the door. Not happy about the results and paid another Tax Company to look the paperwork over. Well the new company charged us $200.00 and saved us $2764.00 (cheaper) the Red Tree showed us on the tax papers.. had to amend their statement that was already sent in to the State and Federal 2022 Taxes! Very very disgusted with Red Tree CPA’s and won’t ever be back Jim and Joan Schmalz

I'm not in the habit of wasting time writing reviews, but felt compelled this time. For the past 8 years Jay, RedTreeCPAs, has done our taxes. All good until this year. I recently started a two state LLC partnership and naturally took my business to Jay. After providing all the information to him, I received an email basically saying my business wasn't worth his time- direct quote "The complexity of doing a multi-state tax return – I can’t begin to explain in an email. And in my practice, I don’t see enough of them to be an expert. Bottom line is – I can’t afford to spend any more time on this……… and the time/effort to learn MA… It’s not worth it. I rarely turn work away … but that is what I’m doing today." Since I referred Jay to my business partner this was embarrassing, and in opinion lacked professionalism.
