We had a terrible experience with Julia. We moved from New Mexico to Missouri in 2022, and didn't want to deal with the hassle of filing for three states (I work in Kansas), so we paid Julia to do them. We first requested that Julia only do our state taxes, since I had already completed on federal taxes online. Even though we had already told her this, she still filed our federal taxes again and charged us for them. We never received a refund for this, even after explaining the situation. Then, we got a notification a few months after our state taxes had been filed that we owed around $1,600 to New Mexico. My husband and I don't make much money, and we knew we had the appropriate amount of income tax taken out, so we knew it was impossible that it was this high. When I asked Julia about it, she just kept stating that she had done nothing wrong. Eventually I called New Mexico tax line myself, and found out what the problem was. We had Julia resubmit and thought that would be the end of the discussion. We were wrong. Another month later we got another letter stated that we still owed around $1,300 to New Mexico. When I called Julia again, she refused to do anything about this besides file again and just kept stating that she had done nothing wrong. She had no sympathy for us and how stressed we were. I called New Mexico tax line again, myself, because Julia refused to. At this point I asked Julia to refund us the money we had paid her to do our taxes, since I was having to do all the hassle myself, but again she refused and said she had done nothing wrong. This time, when I called New Mexico they told me that she had forgotten to add our withholdings, so that was why it was so high. The whole situation was a nightmare. This went on for almost an entire year, until finally I had a saint of a man answer the phone on New Mexico tax line and walk me through how to do the taxes online myself. After months of no answers from Julia, I finally refiled the taxes myself and ended up with $300 back from New Mexico, which should have been what happened from the beginning. The whole situation was an absolute nightmare, and to this day we haven't heard back from Julia, or ever received a refund from her even though she chose to let us handle the entire situation without much help. I would not recommend using her. I will say, Gerry, her assistant was incredibly nice and I'm very thankful for her and how kind she was throughout this entire process.

Terrible experience. Could not answer some very simple tax questions for us. Combination, personal and business, was too complicated for them. We had to hire another firm to do our taxes over. Second accountants made us realize what a terrible job they did.

Julia has done the taxes for myself and teenage kids while they were in college, and now as they are on their own. She takes the time to help us determine what scenario is best for all of us when filing. Great team to work with!

Old review removed. Updated review: After a few challenges the first year, we decided to give this firm another chance. It was never what they produced that was the problem, as the generated reports were amazing. Also, after the hiccups that first year, communication has just been far better overall. To that end, Julia and team have my apologies for my initially harsh review and I look forward to continuing to work with them going forward.

Julia might be a competent CPA for big businesses; however, any small business owner in the KC area should avoid this office at all costs. If you pay Julia to handle your small business's taxes then you can expect: unresponsiveness, miscommunication, pettiness, and bold unprofessionalism. If you attempt to clarify miscommunication, extra fees, or contradictions from her office then you can expect to be: insulted, contradicted, and hung up on multiple times. Only to later be characterized as a bully. If anyone would like details about our 2 years with Julia, or our friends & family's experiences with her office, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. My goal is to ensure that no small business owner in the KC area ever shares our experiences with Julia and her office.
