Shortly after we were married (in our early 30s), Matt and I decided to seek the help of a fee-only financial advisor. We had a prior advisor who was NOT fee-only, and we didn’t feel we were getting unbiased advice or guidance. From the beginning, we felt Colleen Weber truly cared about our individual situation and looked at it comprehensively. We knew that her recommendations didn’t have bias built in and that they were intended to help us holistically. In the past twenty-plus years, that has proven true time after time. That includes special care Colleen gave us when our daughter (who is healthy now) was diagnosed with cancer as a baby, then as we bought our dream home, again when I got laid off from a long-time job, and as we saved for college but still wanted to travel a bit. We’ve recommended Colleen heartily to our whole family and many colleagues, letting them know that not only does she care personally, but she’s also a complete professional. We love that she manages our portfolio from every angle possible AND does our taxes, while also keeping our retirement horizon clearly in focus. In the end, Colleen has given us a sense of peace about our finances; we don’t worry day to day or even month to month. We are both so grateful for her!

For over 20 years I had been using the services of a financial advisor, primarily advisors affiliated with specific fund managers including annuity products. When my 30-plus-year marriage ended in divorce about ten years ago, I was forced to get smart quickly about managing my retirement resources. Around February to April 2020, during the pandemic, I saw my traditional investments take a huge hit. Even though my accounts were shrinking, the commission structure of the advisors continued unaffected. Questioning the “fixed” investment options available to me and the patronizing attitude of the investment advisors to “stay the course, this too will pass,” I began to search for an alternative—an advisor who would act on my behalf without the influence of commissions. I met Colleen Weber in April 2020 and was impressed by her pragmatic approach and found we were aligned philosophically. It was a breath of fresh air in a sea of confusing and stressful options. My initial engagement with Colleen was purposeful; she developed a multi-step plan that included an integration of investment strategy with tax planning and optimization, as well as estate planning and a seamless transition from my corporate career into retirement. Previously without this integration, I had often felt caught between advice from my investment advisors versus tax accountant. Whenever I recommend Colleen’s services to friends (which is often), I emphasize the strategic integration of services and the 100 percent peace of mind that my financial future is solid despite the inevitable ups and downs of market volatility. One of those friends was going through a divorce and was overwhelmed by the responsibilities of her financial future when I recommended Colleen; she has become a client and thanks me every time I see her. Working with Colleen and her team has provided invaluable peace of mind. I am living my best life during retirement and do not worry about outpacing my financial resources. I also am confident that resources will be available to pass down to my children and grandchildren. Planning is the key and Colleen has provided the road map for my financial journey during the third chapter of my life.

In 2009 we were facing three financial situations. We needed help. Both in our final years of working, we felt overwhelmed about having to withdraw our financial savings over possibly 25 years or more in retirement; I was the financial power of attorney for Paul’s mom, who was in her 80s with a complicated financial situation; and we had two children in college and needed guidance on that front. We knew we wanted to work with a CFP®, so I searched online for CFP®s in Minnesota and read a lot of biographies. I was especially drawn to the fact that Colleen Weber was both a CFP® and a CPA; she had the tax law understanding as a CPA plus the comprehensive knowledge of a CFP®. She was also a woman—an added bonus! Through our partnership, Colleen has helped us solve numerous problems, the most important being investment and distribution of our investment portfolio in retirement. I wish I would have found Colleen years earlier because I know she would have helped us a lot with our investment strategy while in the workforce. I’m always recommending Colleen to friends, sharing how she is extremely qualified as a fiduciary— both as a CFP® and CPA. She has comprehensive knowledge of the economy, stock market, and its history, is able to explain complex tax law, and knows what’s coming for tax law changes through Congress. She’s forward thinking and invests our money wisely in a well-diversified portfolio, resulting in solid returns over the years. Colleen is also kind, calm, well organized, and available for any questions or concerns that come up. She listens, discusses issues thoroughly, and does not dictate conversations. Love that about her! Colleen regularly addresses all areas of our financial life, solves problems, and helps us sort out our disagreements as we plan for our future. At every turn, she provides financial knowledge, guidance, and above all, peace of mind.
