In the process of looking for a new accounting firm, I made an appt with Lionheart to discuss needs/expectations/etc prior to choosing which firm to use. The initial consultation went well and I opted to use Lionheart's services based on what I should expect for a payment of $495.00- a correct tax return completed on time because I did not want to file an extension. I had to call twice in order to have the link to their portal sent to me by the assistant at the front desk but I didn't think much about it. I sent my 2023 tax information to them within the timeframe they requested in order to complete my taxes prior to the filing date. I had explicitly expressed I did not want to file an extension. The week prior to the tax deadline, I had not heard from them. I called, the assistant at the front desk said my tax folder had not been looked at yet but she would send it to them immediately. I said okay and again expressed that I needed them completed on time. She understood and said they would be completed. Tax day at 3:30pm, I still had not heard from them or received any updates. I called again, the same assistant, again seemed confused and told me they were not done. She looked through my file while we were on the phone and confirmed I had everything needed to complete the process. She asked me a series of questions and it became clear that she was doing my taxes while I was on the phone with her. She was the young receptionist, not a tax preparer, but the owner of Lionheart had previously assured me that he checks every return prior to it being submitted, so I didn't say anything when I definitely should have. She told me that I would owe $2500. I questioned her and asked if she was sure, she said yes and if she could submit my payment before 5pm then it then I would not be late. I was hesitant, but agreed and paid the amount she said I owed, assuming it was turned in and that was it. The next week, I received a call to come into the office to review my return with the owner. I did so immediately. It was obvious he knew my case had been mishandled as he tried to justify what had happened without specifically mentioning the details. He said they had done a great job on my taxes and I was due a refund of $1300. I asked for an explanation because I had already paid 2500. I found out an extension had been filed because my taxes and payment were turned into the IRS two days after the deadline. Even after the deadline it was obvious a tax preparer had not reviewed my file because they still turned in my payment of $2500 when in fact I did not owe anything but should have had a refund coming. The owner went over my return with me, again said they did a great job and my invoice from him was $495.00. I told him I had a concern of how my case was handled. I pointed out the obvious short comings, he agreed it was not handled correctly but in the end it was corrected and within a few days the IRS should be sending a refund of the $2500 plus the $1300 I should have originally had as a return. Then he continued to tell me how it would not happen again and he would ensure I was appropriately taken care of in the future. It took over a month for my return to come back to me. In the meantime, I had called his office, twice, with questions regarding tax consequences of stock I had recently received. I never got a return call, to this day. But I did continue to receive bills for the $495.00 invoice. The 495.00 was owed in return for my taxes being done correctly and on-time. Neither of those things occurred. I did pay his full fee in order to protect my credit. I will not use this business again and I do not recommend it to anyone else. It was unprofessional and I paid for a service I did not receive. Not to mention the hardship it took to pay a large sum that I did not even owe and had to wait over a month to get back.

Cannot say enough good things about the experience. Professional, knowledgeable, and fairly priced. Educated us on deductions we did not know we were eligible for, answered every question we had, and worked our tax return every way to see what worked best for us.
