Regularly communicate with them at my place of work. Have always had quick and easy communication every week with both Kimberly and Lori. They are always friendly and never had any issues with either of them.

I would like to preface this review with the disclaimer that I have been a repeat client of Neal Kuester's since circa 2016 and, unfortunately, was a satisfied customer until this past year (2023). In early March, 2023, I sent my personal tax documents via certified mail and, although I received confirmation through UPS, I also called to confirm they had been received. Receipt was confirmed. In past years, I had usually received a call from Neal a couple weeks later to discuss my filing but this time I received a voicemail on April 15 at about 10 p.m. from Janette that they had not gotten to filing my taxes due to an audit but they had filed for an extension. No big deal, right? They had always been on top of things before.... Boy was I wrong. I made 4 phone calls between late April and mid-August to inquire about the status of my taxes and spoke with Kimberly, their receptionist, each time. Each time her response was the same, "I will let someone know that you inquired about your taxes." The first 2 calls, I took her at her word but the second 2 I had asked to speak with someone else, particularly Neal or Janette, since I had still not heard anything about my taxes. Coincidentally, no one but Kimberly was available. In mid-August I started emailing Neal directly to ask for an update regarding my taxes. I emailed him 2 times before late August and finally received a call from Kimberly at the end of August stating that my taxes would be filed by September 11. I was glad to receive a response, but was a little disappointed that I never got a reply directly from Neal. Anyways, September 11th came and went and I still didn't know what was happening with my taxes. I emailed Neal again a few days after the 11th, but did not receive a response from Neal until October 11 summarizing the results of my filing. Normally, Neal calls me to go over the filing results but this time all I got was an email. While it may not be the case, I can't help but feel that I didn't receive the phone call because Neal was skirting a professional discussion with a disappointed customer. I understand being busy, but there was an extreme breakdown in client communication. If they would have just reached out from time to time to provide an update, I probably wouldn't be writing this review and wouldn't be looking for another accountant for next tax season.
