After a delay in getting my taxes completed by Shoebox in April I received an email saying they filed an extension on my behalf and will have my return completed by end of April. I never heard back. I have tried reaching out many times with no response. It is September 2024 and shoebox has all of my tax data to file for 2023 and I am extremely worried now with the extension deadline approaching. I have tried emailing Richard with no response. Richard - if you see this please reach out so I can get my taxes filed. Thank you! - Anita Desai

Communication is minimal. Delayed filing despite submitting early January 2023 for 2023 filing. Left emails, voicemails and no response for a question I need answered ASAP. No complaints on CPA skills offered otherwise. Will be changing to a private firm.

Update: Once the owner saw this review he reached out to me and explained what happened and took the time to make this right. Sometimes when there is staffing changes things do happen and it can’t be helped. I appreciate Richard’s transparency and sense of urgency to fix the problem once seeing my initial review and being made aware of the issue. I had a fantastic experience with shoebox last year. This year it is now July and I have not heard a word about my taxes despite providing all information. I have called, left voicemails and emailed repeatedly trying to get in contact with someone to help. On June 5th I was updated that they were working on my return and since then when I tried to follow up my contact appears to have left the firm now and I can not reach the person they have left me the contact for. At one point i had been told they filed an extension and i would hear back by May 3rd. If some sort of urgent issue occurred where they had to close up shop or couldn’t handle the workload they should have contacted people to let them know to get their taxes done elsewhere now in July I suppose I will have to begin looking for help elsewhere while hoping to get a reply. Unprofessional.

I changed to Shoebox Tax Prep because they are excellent! My accountant followed up with me constantly and now I feel so confident about filing my taxes.
