This was the first time I had anyone other than myself prepare my taxes in over 46 years and I must say that Stephen over at Duluth Tax and Accounting exceeded my expectations and helped me overcome my anxiety. This review has long been due. I received an audit notice from IRS around Christmas last year. Since this was my first time receiving such a notice in 22 years of filing taxes, I was not sure what to do. I started shopping online and reached out to all those big names that you'd hear about in commercials. They were all ready to talk me into buying their "representational services" (the lowest quote I got was for 4 grand) claiming they had former IRS execs working for them. They all had local addresses but when I called I was talking with people in CA, NE, IL etc. I wanted someone truly local and found Stephen. We had a couple of (hour long) Zoom meetings and he explained (extremely patiently) what I could myself, what could anyone actually do on my behalf and advised how to correspond with IRS. While the matter is not considered closed by IRS, I know I have saved myself at least $4000. Stephen is very knowledgable and professional. I'd highly recommend him if anyone has any tax issues or need help in this area.

I posted a review of Stephen Gsell (Duluth Tax & Accounting) a year ago after he filed my 2019 returns and after he reviewed and amended returns for several years done by a previous accountant. He obtained me maximum refunds for all the returns. My returns were complex due to foreign earned income, being paid in foreign currency, paying foreign taxes and then applying that to my US taxes. I have now returned from overseas and my taxes are simpler, yet I stayed with Stephen. He once again met and exceeded my expectations with my 2020 returns. He was prompt and efficient and my refunds have already been received. I highly recommend him to all who need the services of an excellent tax preparer and accountant.

Stephen has handled my taxes for the past two years. He is professional and thorough in the preparation and filing, ensuring that I am paying the minimum required amount in both Federal and State taxes. My tax returns are difficult because I live and work overseas. He is fully aware of the tax law intricacies of dealing with foreign earned income, foreign taxes paid, and foreign living costs, and applies that knowledge to my tax preparation. He further conducted a review of my tax returns back to 2014 and saw where i had previously overpaid; he then filed 1040X and 500X for those previous tax years, getting my overpayments refunded. I am very happy with his service and will continue to put my tax filing responsibilities into his capable hands.
