I recently had the pleasure of working with Dalila, and I couldn’t be more impressed with her expertise and efficiency. I had heard stories of businesses paying very little in taxes, but I assumed that only applied to large corporations with tons of expenses. As a smaller business, I was shocked to see how much Dalila was able to minimize my tax liability—she secured me a large refund! Not only was Dalila extremely knowledgeable, but she was also responsive and quick to act. I had another accountant lined up, but they were unresponsive, and I was racing against the clock to file before the deadline. Dalila stepped in confidently and promised she could help, and she certainly delivered. We filed on time and with a great outcome. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish next year with more time to plan and implement more tax strategies. I can’t recommend Dalila at Lumi Accounting and Financial Services enough! After having a really bad experience with my previous accountant—who lacked communication and didn’t provide any clear guidance—I was hesitant to trust someone new. But Dalila completely turned things around for me. She is incredibly hands-on, always following up, and makes a real effort to ensure I understand my finances. Prior to working with LUMI/Dalila I had a CPA that was a terrible communicator and unfortunately this cost me a lot of time, stress and money. There were times when weeks would go by before I heard from the CPA about a very important question regarding taxes, payroll, etc...I knew that I needed to make a serious change, and I needed a CPA who was proactive and knowledgeable. When I came across LUMI/Dalila, we connected immediately about some of the issues I was having with our former CPA, and she could probably tell how frustrated I was. Dalila was empathetic about what we were going through and she made it known from the start that she was not that type of CPA. She even stated that she would work to 'earn my trust', which was different from any other CPA I was interviewing at the time. Although, I was still a little skeptical just based off what we had gone through, I trusted my intuition and moved forward with hiring LUMI. After a few weeks of having LUMI/Dalila as our CPA, I noticed a major difference about the service, not only was she professional, but she was communicating! She worked to dive into our books and quickly identified the holes that were left by our former CPA and their team. Dalila worked hard to clean it up and now we feel great about our financials moving forward. Just by having her on our team/side, we have had some amazing short-term wins. Dalila went above and beyond to clean up some unemployment tax issues we came across due to our former CPA not filing them correctly where she connected with the Texas Workforce Commission and partnered with them to identify the issues and ensure it was taken care of. Overall, as a business owner, I feel fantastic about having moved forward with LUMI/Dalila. She has proved to be an asset to our company, and we look forward to working closely with her and the LUMI team as we continue to grow our business for years to come!

There were several issues in my business’ financial house before I started working with Dalila and LUMI AFS. Like many new entrepreneurs, I was using personal funds and credit lines to fund my business expenses and vice versa; I was not keeping track of my expenses or earned income; I was not generating any type of reporting; and, I did not have a clear picture of my financial standing. Talking about finances and money has always been an uncomfortable process for me, which in turn, creates unnecessary stress and anxiety. This is especially true when it comes to filing tax returns. I made a commitment to get my finances in place in FY2024, and Dalila came at the right time. From the first time we spoke, she made me feel comfortable by answering all my questions and easing my anxiety over my finances. There was never any judgement on her part, she asked many questions, and after getting all my documents, she got to work on my business’ finances. She was very patient and flexible, and when she was done, she explained everything very thoroughly. I felt I could breathe. Of course, one of my biggest fears before engaging LUMI AFS – if not the biggest, was adding another expense to my business and not being able to pay. Thinking of having to pay someone to handle my finances when I thought “I could do it all myself” was stressful, and the truth was I knew I was in over my head. To be honest, it’s one of the most important expenses I gladly pay! Since engaging Dalila and LUMI AFS, my most important short-term win has been filing my taxes on time and having accurate financials reports, which allow me to make informed decisions!
